Hawaiian Historical Society (HHS) is excited to announce our next Books & Brews: Me Ke Aloha in-person at the Hawaiian Historical Society. This afterhours, exclusive event on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm combines a rare peek into the historical archives with a special tasting with a certified sommelier. Ticket includes: a two-station tour, one drink, and light pūpū. Additional beverages will be available for purchase. In celebration of Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, Hawaiian language month, and the season of love, Books & Brews: Me Ke Aloha will feature love stories from Hawaiian history from the 1700s to 1800s. As the sun sets, enjoy tantalizing conversations and treats in the courtyard. Journey through the archives with the Executive Director and listen to the epic tale of Piilani and Kaluaikoʻolau-a powerful love story of great sorrow and immense pride. View sonnets and mele composed by Kalākaua and learn about sacred sites of fertility.
Enjoy a curated selection of handcrafted beverages and historical talkstory with guest speaker, Krystal Kakimoto, Librarian at Bishop Museum and certified sommelier. From love potions to aphrodisiac concoctions, learn and sip the history of the art of attracting through kō (sugarcane), chocolate, and ʻōkolehao. Join us for Books & Brews: Me Ke Aloha, for a night of decadent historical facts and fall in love with this renowned organization. Come sip, snack, and learn about Hawaiʻi’s history.
