The 2024 Hawaiian Historical Society Calendar

He Lei, He Hali‘a, A Garland, A Fond Memory

A reflection of the spirit of the Islands, the lei is a symbol of aloha–love, gratitude, and honor. From birthdays and graduations to weddings and momentous achievements, a lei commemorates celebrations, honors legacies, and memorializes life moments. This year’s theme, He Lei, He Hali‘a, a garland, a fond memory, honors these traditions with images from our collections and historical information featuring lei making, draping, and wearing. In 2024, we offer new historical dates for the calendar months as well as black and white photographs and postcards from the early 1880s to  the late 1950s.

Calendars are available for purchase online for $18 plus shipping & handling.  Click here to order. Discounts are available for bulk orders (25 or more) and members, please e-mail hhsoffice@hawaiianhistory.org for more details.

The creation of the Hawaiian Historical Society calendar remains a point of great pride for the organization as the only compilation of Hawaii historical data edited each year and made accessible to the public. Proceeds from each calendar supports HHS’ ongoing preservation efforts for the historical material as well as future publications of this annual calendar.
