This month we feature some influential women that helped shape Hawaiian history through government, health, and education. We explore what it meant to be a woman in the 1800s from the task of preparing food to ruling a Kingdom and how this continues to inspire us today. Tour the historic homes and listen to stories of the first female doctor as well as food as a symbol of nurturing love. Interact with nūpepa and other rare archival material in the Library Reading Room while learning about one of the first female editors. Join us for Archives Uncorked: Mana Wahine for a night that honors women and experience the exclusive opportunity to tour the collections of two historically renowned organizations in one location. Come sip, snack, and learn about Hawaiʻi’s history.
