The Hawaiian Historical Society invites its members and friends to a lecture by Dr. Tiffany Lani Ing, on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at the Kapiʻolani Community College, Hale ʻŌhiʻa, from 7:00 pm.

Parking in Lot C (stairs) or Lot E is recommended, parking is free. The event is co-sponsored by the International Café at Kapiʻolani Community College. This presentation is free and open to the public.

The presentation is titled, “The Coup of the Hawaiian Kindgom: The Bayonet Constitution of 1887.” A brief question and answer session will follow Dr. Ing’s presentation.

The Hawaiian Journal of History published two of Dr. Ing’s articles, “He Kā Waiho Hoʻohemahema”: Kanaka Maoli Responses to King Kālakaua’s Tour of the Kingdom from 1874 Newspapers in Hawaiʻi (volume 48, 2014) and The 1873 Election in Hawaiʻi between Prince William Charles Lunalilo and the Other Candidate (volume 50, 2016). Her work examines 19th century perspectives of Kalākaua from English- and Hawaiian-language sources.
